AN AUDIO book telling the inspirational story of a Christchurch resident who has grown up with a rare disability has gone on sale.

Purewell's Anton Evans released his autobiography, Where Does The Sun Set?, in 2013 and it has gone on to sell almost a thousand copies all around the world, including in Japan, Australia and America.

The audible version of the book details Anton's journey growing up with Morquio’s Syndrome, which caused an array of medical problems and required several operations.

Anton, 59, decided to tell his story to help other families raising children with disabilities and has created the CD version to make it more accessible.

The 33 chapter book is narrated by national journalist David Gillard MBE.

All proceeds from sales go to two charities that Anton has connections with. These are The Children's Trust, which cares for children with brain injury, and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, which treats children with complex health conditions.

"It is my journey and my life from the beginning right up until 2012," Anton said.

"I wanted to come up with this idea, but it was knowing how best to do it.

"I'm trying to raise money for both charities, who gave me so much support. Everyone involved was so generous.

"On one occasion when I was in hospital I told a man about the book and he asked to buy a copy.

"When he got given it a nurse came up to me and asked if she could have one as well. The book has sold just under a thousand and hopefully the audio book will raise some interest and more money for the charities.

"David is fantastic and he kindly offered to do the narration.

"He's involved with the Highcliffe Charity Players and I decided to give a donation to them as a thank you for him doing the narration for the book."

David, who has worked for a number of national publications, said he enjoyed the opportunity to be the voice of Anton's book.

"It is a very inspiring story and I was happy to help, it is an honour to do it," David said.

"We did the recording in a caravan in Mudeford. Every week I would go down and record about two hours.

"There were a few tweaks, but I think it went well and hopefully people enjoy the audio book.

"I had never done anything like this before, but it was a great experience and something I would do again.

Both the paperback and kindle version of Anton's book are still available on Amazon, while the new audio book can be purchased from www.wheredoesthesunset.co.uk for £12.50.

Due to the size of the audio book, the CD has to be played through a computer.
