POLICE are hunting raiders who fled with tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from a Wimborne home.

High-value items including 10 loose large carat diamond stones, seven white and yellow gold rings with varying sizes of diamond stones and some unique individual pieces of jewellery including a Mikimoto pearl with diamond surround were stolen in the burglary.

Other items taken include a jade ring with diamond surround, a black onyx ring with a diamond stone and a white gold diamond pendant on a white gold chain.

A 1960s ladies’ white gold Rolex watch, yellow gold Rolex watch and a 1968 men’s Omega watch with a gold band were also taken as well as a large collection of yellow gold pieces including cufflinks.

The full value of the items has not been released but some individual items are believed to be worth more than £10,000 each.

Detectives have now appealed for help in tracing the items which were taken from a home in Middlehill Road area of Colehill between between 10.30am on Tuesday January 9 and 10am on Wednesday January 10.

The house was temporarily un occupied when the burglars broke in.

Detectives Constable Andrew Burley, of Dorset Police’s Priority Crime Team, said: “We have made a number of enquiries into this burglary and as part of our investigation I am appealing to any members of the public or retailers who have come across any of the items described to contact police.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who has any information about the burglary.”

Jon Durston, from Bournemouth’s Charles Fox Jewellers, said it was likely the haul would run into several thousands of pounds in value.

He told the Daily Echo: “Mikimoto pearls are the best pearls that you can buy, depending on the size and quality of them. Obviously, a Rolex is a very valuable watch. Rolexes will always have a value, even the vintage ones are still collectible - there is a market for vintage watches.

“The fact that the lady had a Rolex - it’s not something that an average person would probably have in their collection. Rolex and Omega are two of the most expensive brands of watch.

“Looking at that list, it’s going to be worth a few thousand.”
