A PURBECK bed and breakfast has once again been named one of the best in the world.

The Bindon Bottom in West Lulworth scooped the title in the 16th annual TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards.

The Victorian country house, which dates back to 1871 and is a 10-minute walk away from Lulworth Cove, has been named fifth best in the world and second best in Europe and the UK.

It is not the first time the bed and breakfast has been praised; in 2017 and 2014 it was named the best bed and breakfast in the world.

The annual awards honour the world’s most outstanding properties across 10 categories.

Poole’s RNLI College was also announced a winner after coming sixth place in the UK’s best value for money hotels category.

While in the west of the county, the Bay View Hotel in Weymouth came tenth in the bargain hotels category.

The award winners were determined based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from TripAdvisor travellers worldwide.

Hayley Coleman, TripAdvisor spokesperson, said: “These awards are revered and eagerly awaited each year by the hospitality industry owing to the fact that unlike other hospitality awards, these are based on feedback from actual guests over the past year.

“For travellers, they serve as annual bucket list inspiration and with winning hotels often fully booked shortly after our announcement, travellers who want to get in on the action will need to book quickly if they want to see for themselves why these properties are so highly rated”.

The Old School Bed & Breakfast in the Cotswolds was named the best B&B in Europe and the fourth best in the world.
