TODAY marks the start of two weeks of resurfacing works on another busy road in Poole.

Highways engineers from Borough of Poole will be carrying out the work on A341 Magna Road and Queen Anne Drive, starting from near Hamworthy Recreation Club and progressively heading west to meet the new road surface near Harvey Road.

The improvements are part of the approximate £2.9m Challenge Fund that Borough of Poole received from the Department for Transport in August 2017.

The finance to carry out structural maintenance schemes on major roads must be used by the end of March 2018. Work will begin at 7.30am today after delays before Christmas because on of the contractors suffered a “severe mechanical failure”.

Stop and go boards will be in operation throughout the period of the resurfacing, with staff working Monday to Friday.

Other ongoing roadworks in Poole include:

  • Upton Bypass - 14-week A350 bridge project started last week. There is also a 30mph speed limit throughout the coned off works area
  • Lane closed due to roadworks on A350 Holes Bay Road at Sterte Avenue West
  • Blandford Road partially blocked due to gas main work near Oak Road
  • Water main work and temporary traffic lights on B3369 Shore Road near Brudenell Avenue
