FOOTAGE of a drink driver caught weaving over the roads has been shared by police.

Bradley Carter was banned from the roads after he was caught driving in Poole when two-and-a-half times the drink-drive limit.

Dashcam footage recorded by the car travelling behind Carter’s Vauxhall Astra shows it repeatedly crossing the lines in the middle of the road and into the opposite carriageway.

At the beginning of the recorded video, the Astra navigates a roundabout but ends up on the wrong side of the road as a Yellow Bus approaches.

Carter then swerves back onto the correct side of the road.

Later on, he once again veers into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle manages to avoid a collision with moments to spare by pulling to the side of the road.

Carter’s Astra is then recorded on a dual carriageway.

Without any indication, it suddenly swerves into the path of a van travelling in the same direction.

A collision is narrowly avoided.

The video ends as a police car with blue lights flashing arrives and pulls over the Astra.

The defendant, of 30 Commander Barracks in Plymouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on December 22.

He admitted driving on the A350 at Limberlost in Poole on December 8 2017 when he had 84 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The limit is 35mg.

Carter, who is also known as Bradley Smale, was fined £250 and ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and costs of £85.

The 30-year-old was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 16 months.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police urged anyone with information about a suspected drink driver to call the police.

“This dashcam footage, which was captured by a member of the public, shows the reckless actions of a drink driver who was more than double the legal limit,” the spokesperson said.

“If you suspect someone of drink- or drug-driving, call us on 999 with the vehicle registration and direction of travel.”
