HIS latest music compilation is currently number two in the official dance album charts.
DJ Jamie Duggan who made his name as a pioneer of bassline, a genre of UK garage music, is rapidly gaining mainstream recognition.
He will be performing live at Bournemouth’s O2 Academy in Boscombe next week. Jamie told the Daily Echo he was really looking forward to his first Bournemouth show.
“I’ve never played in Bournemouth before so it’s always exciting to play in new venues and cities. You can expect a bit of everything, from the crazy heavy dub stuff to the big vocal tracks, unreleased bits and always the odd classic.”
Jamie was a founding member of the original Sheffield bassline scene and Niche nightclub, and has remained a key figure as the culture and sound has grown over the last 20 years.
His first compilation, Pure Bassline, sold over 20,000 copies and topped the charts shortly after its release in March 2017.
The second compilation, which he worked on with DJ Q, is also number ten in the official compilation album charts.
Jamie said he has plenty more plans in the pipeline for the next few months.
“I will be finishing a few things off in the studio with Booda, getting an EP out, sorting through a remix package with Bru-C and then finally get something up and running that myself & DJ Q have been working on.”
For people that have never been to one, what is a bassline gig like?
“Madness. If you want the best crowd atmosphere it’s the gig to be at right now!”
Jamie is at the O2 Academy on Saturday, January 27.
