FOOTWEAR retail giant Deichmann shoes is set to open a new store in Poole next month.

A dozen jobs will be created by the venture, a 438-metre square unit at the town's Dolphin Shopping Centre. The shop is currently undergoing a £500,000 refit.

Deichmann says its Poole store will benefit from a simple, customer friendly layout, with all stock available on the shop floor so customers can try on the style and size of their choice.

Deichmann, Europe's largest shoe retailer, opened a store in Bournemouth towards the end of last year.

The Poole shop is scheduled to open on Saturday, February 3.

Andy Thompson, Store Manager of Deichmann Bournemouth, said: "We’re really excited to be opening our doors in Poole and are thrilled to have been able to help create some new local jobs.

"We’re looking forward to getting to know all the local shoppers and hopefully becoming a well-loved fixture on the High Street."

The first 25 customers at the Poole store will be able to claim a free pair of shoes, of value up to £25. There will also be limited edition bags sold on opening day, featuring an iconic Poole landmark.

Dolphin Shopping Centre manager John Grinnell said: "The countdown has begun to the opening of Deichmann – we're delighted they’re joining the line-up of retailers at the Dolphin.

"There is lots to be excited about this year at the Dolphin, as there are several other openings planned for the centre."

The Deichmann brand is more than 100 years old, with stores in 24 countries across the world. It celebrated its 10th anniversary in the UK in 2011, and now has almost 100 stores nationwide.
