TRAFFIC is building in Poole and motorists are warned to expect severe delays following the discovery of a gas leak.

SGN found a significant leak at the junction of Station Road and Commercial Road and are carrying out emergency repairs.

A series of traffic restrictions have been put in place and motorists will be unable to access certain junctions in the area, while engineers work to repair the leak.

Vehicles travelling along Station Road will be unable to turn right into Commercial Road at the traffic signals, while motorists travelling along Commercial Road from Poole will be unable to turn right into Station Road.

Hannah Brett, spokesperson for gas network company SGN, said: "We’re currently working to repair a section of our gas network in Commercial Road, Poole.

"To keep everyone safe around our site, there is no currently right turn from Commercial Road into Station Road. Traffic is also not able to turn right from Station Road into Commercial Road.

"It’s too early to say how long it will take to complete our emergency repair at this point. However, we appreciate this is a particularly busy route and we’re doing all we can to finish our repair as quickly as possible."

Borough of Poole warns there will be significant delays in the area due to works already taking place at the junction of Commercial Road and Church Road junction.
