WORK to replace the gas main in two roads in Poole will begin in the new year.
Southern Gas Networks say the work will take around six weeks and will involve the replacement of old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes.
The project has been co-ordinated with Borough of Poole, and cost around £99,930.
It will begin on January 8.
Work will be happening six days a week from 8am until 7pm.
A spokesperson for SGN: "To ensure everyone’s safety, we will need to close Springfield Road for the duration of our work.
"A signed diversion will be in place. There will also be two-way temporary traffic lights in use at the junctions of Commercial Road and Springfield Road for two weeks from 8 January.
"There will be a temporary pedestrian crossing in place while there will be no right turn for westbound traffic from Bournemouth Road into Springfield Road, again for two weeks from the start of our work.
"Access will be provided for residents, however an alternative route may be in place.
"We are sorry about any inconvenience caused by our work and would like to thank road users in advance for your patience."
