START 2018 on the right note when the award-winning Bournemouth Concert Brass returns to Christchurch for its annual New Year Viennese concert.

Under the baton of resident conductor Bill Willis, audiences can look forward to the Strauss family’s famous Viennese waltzes, polkas and marches.

Bill, who has been with the band since 1993, has also written some of the arrangements for this year’s concert.

Following favourites like the Blue Danube and the Radetzky March, there will also be pieces by other famous composers who worked in Vienna at the time, including Franz Lehar and Mozart.

From the Florentiner March via the Thunder & Lightning polka, to the Rondo alla Turca, organisers say it promises to be “an afternoon to remember for all lovers of British brass band music”.

Bournemouth Concert Brass is one of the top bands in Britain today – a tribute to its long and distinguished history. The band was formerly called the Bournemouth Silver Band, which was born at the start of the 20th century in Boscombe and Southbourne.

The band has won the West of England Championships, was a finalist at the National Brass Band Championships at the Albert Hall and is also former winner of the prestigious Milton Keynes and Reading Brass Band Festivals.

The New Year Viennese Concert is at the Regent Centre on Sunday, January 7 at 3pm. Tickets £11 (concessions £9.50)
