A BOURNEMOUTH schoolgirl who suffers from cerebral palsy and quadriplegia has received her second trike from the Steve Bernard Foundation.

Charlotte Oxford was presented with her first mobility aid five years ago when she was a nine-year-old pupil at St Mark's primary school in Bournemouth.

Since then Charlotte, now a 14-year-old pupil at The Bourne Academy, has outgrown the trike so another was presented at her new school.

The Steve Bernard Foundation was set up following the death of former Bournemouth School pupil Steve, a promising young sportsman who was just 18-years-old when he died in a car crash shortly after starting university in Chichester in 2005.

Since it was established it has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds and the trike is the latest piece of equip[ment to be presented by Steve's dad, Tony Bernard.

He said: "Charlotte is as bright as a button and has a lovely sense of humour. She badly needed a bigger trike after outgrowing the first one."
