ASTON Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Cherries striker Lewis Grabban.

Grabban has netted 11 goals in 17 league appearances for Championship strugglers Sunderland after joining them on a season-long loan in August.

However, Cherries have a recall clause which allows them to bring him back to Vitality Stadium when the transfer window reopens next month.

Wolves and Fulham have also been linked with the 29-year-old who penned a three-and-a-half year deal when he rejoined Cherries from Norwich for £7million in January 2016.

Speaking to the Daily Echo earlier this month, Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: “We will sit down with Grabbs and make the right call for him, for us and for everybody, to see what the next step is.

“The recall was put in for a number of reasons but there is no doubting his quality.

“He scored goals in the Championship before and it is good to see him doing it on a regular basis.

“I have a long history with him, he was one of the guys back in the League One days who did so well for us and then made the jump to the Championship.

“Of course, we brought him back to the football club in the Premier League.

"I am really pleased he is showing his true quality and we will wait and see.”
