MATT Ford insisted Kacper Woryna’s stunning effort in Poland this year had been no accident and revealed hopes Pirates would profit from the youngster’s burgeoning talent.

Woryna finished 14th in the averages in the Ekstraliga – regarded by many as the toughest league in the world – ahead of the likes of Maciej Janowski, Chris Holder, Freddie Lindgren and Piotr Pawlicki.

And Poole chief Ford sees a bright future for the 21-year-old, who he signed from Coventry as a full asset in August.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “Kacper has improved in the past year. He had an outstanding season in Poland, finishing ahead of some top names in the averages.

“While you have to accept that was done from the reserve berth, you don’t improve like that through any form of mistake.

“Clearly, he’s getting better and I look forward to working with Kacper for many years to come.”

Ford had hoped to sign Woryna as a number eight for 2016 but instead Coventry stepped in to snap up the Rybnik-born racer.

The Pirates boss added: “Kacper has always had thoughts of riding for Poole but sometimes things take time to materialise.

“Now we have brought him in on a full transfer, his experience of British racing will be invaluable.”

Woryna, the grandson of former Poole rider Antoni Woryna, helped Poland win the Under-21 World Cup this year.
