BURGLARS targeted two park homes at a development for people aged 50 and over.

Thieves struck at Oaktree Park in St Leonards on the weekends of Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19.

A safe, jewellery and perfume were stolen during the raids.

Bosses at the site have handed CCTV footage to police in the hope that the film will help officers catch the burglars.

A spokesperson from Haulfryn, which runs Oaktree Park, said: β€œAt this time our priority is to work with our residents to ensure repairs are completed and the properties are made secure.

"We are liaising with the police and have passed CCTV images over to the authorities in a bid to catch the thieves.

"The safety and security of our residents is our number one priority and we will also be conducting a review of our current security systems and will make additional provisions if these are deemed necessary.”

Oaktree Park offers properties to people who are either semi-retired or retired.

In September, an elderly man living at the site had his wallet stolen by a conman who claimed to be visiting in order to check the electricity supply.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "We received a report at 11.48am on Sunday, November 19 of a burglary at an address in Oaktree Park.

"It was reported that the burglary had occurred between 4pm on Saturday, November 18 and 11am on the day the report was made.

"Entry to the property was forced and a small black safe was taken.

"We received a further report at 3.10pm on Sunday, November 19 of another burglary at Oaktree Park.

"It was reported to have taken place between 4.30pm on Friday, November 17 and 3.10pm on the day the report was made.

"Entry was forced and items including perfume and jewellery were taken.

"In both cases enquiries are continuing and no arrests have been made."

Officers from the area's neighbourhood policing team have made visits to the site to reassure residents and offer crime prevention advice.
