AN EXCLUSIVE private members’ club is to open as a place where celebrities, Premier League footballers and well-to-do professionals can go to relax.

The Delta Club is being developed at an undisclosed site in central Bournemouth ready for opening next year.

The local entrepreneur behind the idea – who spoke to the Daily Echo on condition of anonymity – said it would welcome men and women into a “serene” and relaxed atmosphere.

He said: “It’s an exclusive private members’ venue based in the heart of Bournemouth, offering food and drink from 7am to midnight. It’s a place for professionals to blend their work and social life.”

Membership will cost between £75 and £100 a month, with a board meeting once a month to go through applications and select members from a waiting list.

Members will be able to call in for a daytime coffee, a cocktail or an evening meal.

The entrepreneur said the idea was similar to successful London venues including Soho House and the Hospital Club.

He said growing affluence in the area meant there was a demand for such a venue.

“The creative and digital industry is the fastest-growing in the UK. It has a Premier League football team. You’ve got a number of footballers and high net worth individuals in the area these days. Sandbanks just down the road,” he said.

“All these things show a demand for it.

“We now have over 50,000 business in Dorset.

“We’re based in the town centre for people to pop out for coffee and have a meeting as well as being a place for business owners and professionals to come on a Saturday night.”

The club would have a “serene” feel, with a grand piano and relaxing live music.

“Once you’ve paid to get in there, you get the quietness and serenity away from the hustle and bustle,” he said.

“We want it to be a place for celebrities to come and feel comfortable and feel they’re not going to get a lot of people wanting autographs and selfies.

“It’s a place you can walk in the door and just relax and have a quiet drink.

“I always say it’s a place where I could go and put my phone and laptop down and if I wandered off and chatted to someone, I’d know they were not going to go missing.”

The operator has already been taking expression of interest online and intends to announce more details over the coming months.
