THE award-winning British jazz violinist Christian Garrick returns to Dorset this winter with a brand new quintet concert titled, Spirit of Stephane, a tribute to the great French Maestro Stephane Grappelli.

Garrick is not only an improvising violinist, composer and a bandleader, he is also a professor of jazz and non-classical violin at three of London’s major music conservatoires.

Familiar to many as the front man of the Budapest Café Orchestra, Chris has toured Dorset on many occasions.

In this brand new show, the fabled French fiddler Grappelli, is remembered and celebrated in a swinging concert moulded in the instrumental tradition of the Hot Club of France and Django Reinhardt.

Swinging tunes such as Sweet Georgia Brown, Strike up the Band and Ain’t Misbehavin’ are followed by beautiful ballads like My Serenade, Didn't We and La Chanson De Rue.

Front man and virtuoso violinist Garrick is joined by Jez Cook on guitars, Andy Crowdy on double bass, Eddie Hession on accordion and Tom Hooper on feather drumsticks.

See the quintet at Studland on Sunday, December 10. To book tickets 01929 450204 or visit artsreach.co.uk
