CHRISTMAS will get under way at Moors Valley Country Park with storytelling magic from the Old Fairy Godmother.

On the first weekend of December, she will be decorating her tree for a special visitor. Booking for the event, which takes place at 11am and 2pm, is essential.

Festive Fun Weekends also start on Saturday, December 2, and run on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-3pm until December 17, with family crafts to enjoy from £2.

The Santa Special starts from Saturday, December 9. The Moors Valley Railway trips to visit Santa in his station grotto have proved popular, featuring presents for children and adults and elves providing seasonal refreshments. Early booking is recommended.

Longdown Dairy Farm is bringing some of its stable animals to Moors Valley on Sunday, December 10 and 17.

‘The Frog Prince’ stars in the Moors Valley pantomime on Monday, December 18, and Tuesday 19, courtesy of Forest Forge and Bumblefly Theatre.

Other events include carol singing at dusk on Saturday, December 9 and 16 and Moors Valley’s Family Festive Quiz trail from Boxing Day to New Year’s Day.

The park will also be selling Christmas trees, ranging in height from two to eight feet. The shop opens from December 1-17, or until stock runs out.
