PART of Shore Road in Sandbanks will be closed for around five months while a new sewer pipe is installed.
There will be a lane closure between the junction of Haven Road and Crichel Mount Road, with traffic lights in place.
The work by Wessex Water will begin on Monday, November 6, and will be completed by the end of March 2018.
The company says access will be maintained for residents and customers’ sewerage services will not be affected by the work.
Project manager Lucy George said: “We’re investing more than £1 million on essential work on the sewerage network in Shore Road, and this involves laying a new pipe.
“We will be working between 7.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, but may be required to work at weekends and longer hours due to challenges in construction.
“Work will be completed by the end of March 2018 at the latest and, as ever, we will endeavour to keep noise and disruption to a minimum.
“We apologise for any inconvenience to road users and local residents caused by this work.”
