POLICE are warning teenagers to stop climbing onto rooftops and cranes after several reports over half term.

Bournemouth South Neighbourhood Police Team said last week that they received a number of reports of teenagers climbing onto rooftops and large construction cranes.

"This is extremely dangerous behaviour and we urge people not to do this. We ask parents to speak to your children and tell them to stop - before someone gets injured or dies."

Just a day later, they said officers were called to a group of youths climbing on top of a lift shaft roof in Madeira Road.

"This is extremely dangerous and wastes vital police resources", they added.

The warnings come after several incidents involving free running and similar activities this year in the area.

In May, footage of a 13-year-old scaling a 100ft crane at a building site in Poole was uploaded to YouTube.

And in August, a 14-year-old boy suffered life changing injuries after falling from the Dolphin Centre car park onto the roof of Poole bus depot.

Teenagers have also been seen climbing onto the roof of Poole's Lighthouse Theatre and other buildings in the town.
