A POST mortem examination carried out following the death of a three-year-old girl in Fordingbridge has proved inconclusive.

Further tests will now be carried out in a bid to determine how the little girl, named locally as Bethan, died.

Floral tributes and a Minnie Mouse toy have been left outside an address in Whitsbury Road following an incident on the evening of Thursday October 19.

Bethan died in hospital shortly after emergency services went to the address after receiving a concern for welfare call.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken into police custody. She has since suffered a “medical episode” and is currently in hospital.

Hampshire Police have formally released her under investigation.

The little girl was airlifted to Salisbury District Hospital at around 7pm last Thursday but was pronounced dead later that evening.

Neighbours have named Bethan’s parents as Claire and Michael Colebourn. Mr Colebourn is the Chief Executive Officer of Southampton-based marine interiors firm Trimline.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said inquiries in relation to the arrested woman will “resume at an appropriate time.” A post mortem examination was due to be carried out yesterday.
