THREE major events have been cancelled due to Storm Brian.

The Zombie Escape event, which was due to take place today, will not take place due to Storm Brian but will instead be held on November 11.

Tonight's Light Up The Prom event at Bournemouth Pier has also been pushed back until November 10.

And Wimborne Food Festival has also been cancelled over safety fears.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for Bournemouth, Poole and the rest of the county for strong winds for most of Saturday.

The 5k Zombie Escape obstacle course, which will help raise money for Dorset Mind, was set to take place in Kings Park at 10am today.

Organisers said on Friday morning that the event will now take place on November 11 as "safety is paramount".

The event will see participants wear a bib with three flags attached and make their way along the course while avoiding the zombies attempting to grab their flags.

As well as hordes of the undead, the course will involve a series of other obstacles including scramble nets, hay bale jumps and a maze.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, who have organised the Light Up The Prom event said: "We regret to announce that, due to the dangerous high winds expected this evening, we have chosen, in the interest of safety, to postpone Light Up the Prom until Friday November 10.

"We will now contact everyone who has dedicated a light in anticipation of the event to inform them of this postponement.

"If you know of anyone who would have been likely to attend tonight, we would be very grateful if you could help us to share this message with them.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

"We’re determined to celebrate Light Up the Prom with you all on Friday 10 November and hope you’re all able to join us then."

A spokesperson for Wimborne Food Festival said: "Cancellation is a difficult and heart-wrenching decision for any event organiser who has invested significant time, faith and money into an event, however I had to ask myself the question "Is my event safe?"

"After careful consideration and constant weather forecast watching, I have sadly decided to cancel this years festival.

"Whilst weather is out of my control and cannot be managed, I am in control of visitors, stall holders and staff safety and if people are likely to be put at risk then cancellation is the only option.

"Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused."
