A MAN was hit with a baseball bat during an aggravated robbery in Bournemouth at the weekend.

The 19-year-old was at a property in Talbot Road, Winton on Sunday when an unknown man visited the address between 11pm and midnight asking for someone by name.

Once inside the address, the robber attacked the victim with the bat before attempting to tie him up with cable ties.

He then stole a number of items from the property, including a laptop, phone and watches.

The victim suffered a head injury, which is not believed to be serious.

He was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The offender is described as white and aged in his late 20s. He had with light-coloured short hair and facial stubble.

He was wearing a green and white windbreaker jacket and carrying a small dark-coloured shoulder bag.

Officers visited and carried out a search of the area. However, the offender was not found.

Detective Constable Garry Weston, of Bournemouth CID, said: “We have already made a number of enquiries and are continuing to investigate this incident and why this victim was targeted."

He called for witnesses or anyone who saw suspicious activity in Talbot Road at the time of the burglary to contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence 55170161428.
