HALLOWEEN is this drawing closer and there are plenty of events to take part in across Dorset this year.

1) In Southbourne, Frankenfest will take place on Saturday October 28 from 10.30am until 10pm. There will be music and entertainment, arts and crafts, fire displays, a parade and best dressed competition in Southbourne Grove and Fisherman's Walk.

2) On Sunday, October 29 the Metropole Market will host a Day of the Dead themed event in Bournemouth.

3) A Halloween Trail will take place at Hengistbury Head over the weekend of October 28 and 29.

4) You can join the National Trust for a Halloween Night with cider and sausages at Studland on October 28, from 6pm to 8pm. There will also be a spooky night time walk in the dunes. Meet at Knoll Beach cafe.

5) A Halloween Extravaganza comes to Highcliffe Castle on October 29. Visitors will be taken on a journey through the castle, to discover the owl’s secrets and complete the activities between 2pm and 7pm.

6) Corfe Castle will also host a number of Halloween activities from October 21-29 including a terrifying teddy zip wire challenge and frightening family trail.

7) Upton Country Park will also transform their Pumpkin Patch with scarecrows and a harvest inspired maze between Saturday October 21 and Sunday October 29. And there is also a Pumpkin Parade in the walled garden on Thursday October 26.

8)  High Cross Church in Somerford will be hosting a family event, Pumpkin Heroes, on Saturday October 28. There will be crafts, a pumpkin hunt and refreshments between 9.30am and midday.

9) Bournemouth's Mighty Claws Adventure Golf will host 'Shocktober' celebrations between October 24 and October 31 between 9am and 4pm. There is a fancy dress prize and spooky dino cave.

10) Beaulieu will be putting on a range of activities over October half term including face painting, arts and crafts, an All Hallows trail, search for spiders and ghost stories.

11) A spooky Halloween trail comes to Stour Valley Nature Reserve during half term. The trail takes place every day from October 21 and 29 between 11am and 3pm. There will also be a number of craft activities taking place for little ones. Visit bournemouth.gov.uk/stourvalley

12) A free children’s Halloween party takes place at The Fiveways pub on October 29 between 12noon and 4pm. There will be a disco, face painting, Halloween games, prizes for best dressed, sweets and treats.

13) Adventure Wonderland will host a week of events over half term from October 21 until October 29 including turning the maze into a Fright Garden and a Monster Bash on October 27 and October 28. 

14) Spooky films are being shown on the roof of the Sovereign Shopping Centre car park for free this half-term including Monsters Inc and Casper.
