A MAN has been fined £500 after failing to stop after he hit an animal in the New Forest.
Stephen Nicholson, 68, of Greatwood Close, Hythe, had his driving licence endorsed with nine points and fined £500 after hitting a Shetland pony on Beaulieu Road in May.
Nicholson, driving a Ford Focus, hit the pony earlier this year and failed to stop or report the accident.
The 68-year-old was also ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
