DETECTIVES investigating a spate of attacks in Bournemouth have arrested two men on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers were called to reports of a fight at the Kings Arms in Wallisdown Road on Saturday evening. A man in his 50s was injured in the row.

Shortly afterwards, a further incident was reported at the school playing field in Talbot Drive involving a van.

A 23-year-old man was found unconscious and taken to hospital for treatment for serious but not life-threatening injuries.

A teenage boy also sustained minor injuries.

Two men aged 29 and 40 and both from Bournemouth have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released under investigation.

Police have been releasing some of those accused of criminal conduct under investigation since April of this year.

The term means the investigation is ongoing, and a decision will be taken at some point in the future, although a date does not have to be fixed.

Detective Inspector Andy Roberts, of Bournemouth CID, said: “A full investigation is underway to establish what happened and we believe the two incidents are linked. As a result, officers will continue to carry out enquiries in the area and for public reassurance.

“Any witnesses to either incident or anyone with information about those involved should contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.”

As reported by the Daily Echo, witnesses reported seeing police and paramedics at the pub.

Lois Holder, a Bournemouth University student who lives in Wallisdown, said she saw people being chased down the road.

A shopkeeper who asked not to be named said knives are believed to have been involved in the incident at the Kings Arms.

The pub reopened late on Saturday night and is now open for business as normal.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting incident number 7:350.
