A PUB in the New Forest has reopened after new owners carried out a major three-week refurbishment.

The Kings Arms, at St Thomas Street in Lymington, was closed from September 6 to September 27 while the work was carried out.

The popular establishment has been refitted, with new owners The Craft Union Pub Company saying they have improved the interior while "remaining sympathetic" to the pub's character and tradition.

A spokesperson for The Craft Union Pub Company, said: "We are delighted to have taken over the Kings Arms, Lymington.

"The Craft Union Pub Company is a community pub operator that focuses on great value and customer experience, and our investment in the site will ensure the pub is kept very much at the heart of the community with great products at great prices, with premium sports and entertainment.”

The company adds their refurbishments are always aimed at improving the quality of facilities at the pub for everyone in the local community to enjoy.

Alongside publicans Keith Bowen and Wendy Randall, the new owners say they are looking to ensure that the Kings Arms remains at the heart of the community.

"It's a more lively, brighter and modern bar now," Keith said.

"We invite people to come along and enjoy the experience of the new Kings Arms.

"We are still doing our regular events like the quiz night, music performances and meat draw.

"Overall, we're trying to create a fun pub for the people of Lymington."

Lymington mayor Barry Dunning said the investment into the pub reflected the positive news for the town.

"It's great to hear about the refurbishment to the Kings arms," Cllr Dunning said.

"I have opened up three or four shops in the town recently which is definitely a good sign as it shows people are prepared to put financial backing in the area.

"Compared to a lot of high streets in the area I think Lymington is doing well."
