THE head of Bournemouth's newest primary school invited parents to a special afternoon tea to introduce himself.

Chris Jackson, who took the reins at Avonwood in September, shared his vision for the school during the special meeting.

He said: "I am incredibly proud to be joining such a fantastic school as Avonwood and this was a great way to meet all the parents.

"I think this is a really special place, with engaged parents, a dedicated team of staff and very happy children who are eager to learn and love coming to school."

Avonwood, part of the Harewood Avenue-based Avonbourne Trust, opened its doors in 2014 and is currently rated as Good by Ofsted.

Chris, 33, is well-acquainted with the trust and has moved from a position as assistant head teacher at Avonbourne.

Avonbourne Trust CEO, Debbie Godfrey-Phaure, said: "We are delighted to have Chris as Avonwood’s new headteacher.

"He is young, passionate about education and has very exciting ideas on how to take Avonwood even further.

"Chris is very ambitious for the school and its children and I’m sure under his leadership an outstanding future waits for all involved with Avonwood."
