DORSET’S Georgia Hall will tomorrow take a one-shot lead into the third of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino in Malaga.

Wimborne-based Hall, one of three players at the top of the leaderboard overnight, broke away from the pack on the second morning at Real Club de Campo Guadalmina.

Starting at the 10th, she birdied the 11th and 13th to establish a two-stroke lead at nine-under before picking up another birdie at the 17th to extend her advantage to three.

Further birdies at the fifth and seventh saw her add a flawless 67 to her first round 65 to finish on 12-under.

However, local favourite and defending champion Azahara Muñoz, one of Hall’s playing partners, equalled the course record with a 64 to get within one stroke of the lead.

Hall said: “I hit the ball better today, I just didn’t hit it close enough to the pin with my approach shots.

“It’s always good to have a bogey-free round and it got a bit windy on the back nine so I was happy with today’s score.

“The pins were not much harder so you could attack them, but I putted well again today.

“Aza played great. She holed some really good putts and shot eight-under so she’s one behind me. It was great playing with her and the weather was great so I enjoyed it.”

Natalia Escuriola Martinez, who was tied for the lead overnight with Hall and Diana Luna, was two-under for her first five holes but signed for a one-over 73.
