THERE’S just one day to go until Bournemouth’s first street market takes place.

The Bournemouth Metropole Market will take over the entire length of Holdenhurst Road in Lansdowne on Sunday with stalls, live music and entertainment lining the street.

The inaugural event, which runs between 10am and 5pm, aims to attract more than 5,000 visitors, residents and families to the Lansdowne.

The road between St Paul’s Roundabout and the Lansdowne Roundabout will be closed off to traffic for the occasion.

Stalls will include freshly baked goods from Rucettes Sucree’s 1859, street food from The House Grille, local produce from Ali’s Homemade Produce and vegan options from Tattiebogle Vegan Food. While the Wave 105 Tack N Tipple will provide refreshment.

A host of musicians will perform at various locations throughout the day including Xander Allen, lead singer of Bournemouth based Indie-rock band Xander & the Keys, ukulele three-piece The Mother Ukers and former The Voice contestant Si Genaro. Other local musicians include Jonny Phillips, Lewis Jordan Brown, Shannon White, Krista Green, the Mambossa Latin band, Miss Annie, Arthur Young and Real Vintage.

Street performers Pantheatrix and Street Comedy will be entertaining market goers plus there will also be jugglers, stilt walkers, military vehicles and a live spray painting art demonstration from the Paintshop Studio.

For little ones, there’s a dedicated kids’ zone featuring a ceramic art workshop, face painting, puppeteer Mr Merlin & Okey Dokey the Dragon and children’s entertainer Jamie Jigsaw.

Lyn Turnball, Co-Event Organiser and Co-Owner of Mexigo Burrito Bar, said: “After months of planning and preparation, the Metropole Market is finally here.

“We can promise a fun day out for all the family and can’t wait to welcome a whole host of people into Lansdowne on Sunday.

“With the support of our local business community, this is set to be a great kick-start to our series of monthly markets.’’

The Metropole Market is being supported by the Town Centre BID, Laceys Solicitors, Yellow Buses and Wave 105.

The markets will take place on the last Sunday of each month and the next event on October 29 will have a Day of the Dead theme.
