A BRAND new store is set to open in Poole High Street this weekend.

National toy retailer, The Entertainer, will be opening a store at the former McDonald’s site on Saturday.

McDonald's closed its doors permanently in January this year after 34 years in business.

The opening of the Poole store will create nine new jobs for the town and will bring the toy retailer’s total number of outlets in the UK to 138.

Lego Ninjago’s Kai and Lloyd will be making a special appearance between 10am and 4pm during the grand opening who will be on hand to guide families around the new shop.

There will also be balloon modelling and in-store demonstrations.

Ahead of the store opening, The Entertainer will be celebrating with a special trolley dash with children from charity, Merlin’s Magic Wand.

The charity delivers magical experiences for children facing challenges of serious illness, disability and adversity.

Sandra Hazel, Head of Merlin’s Magic Wand, said: “It is wonderful that The Entertainer has chosen to support local children as part of the opening celebrations. We have a longstanding relationship with Victoria Education Centre and I know that the children are very excited to be involved.”

Clare Simpson, store manager at The Entertainer in Poole, said: “We are really excited about opening this new store – not only will it be lovely to see the children from Livability Victoria school and Home enjoy their new toys but the Grand Opening event will be a great chance for visitors to get a first glimpse inside the toy shop and get a photo with their favourite Lego characters – the team here can’t wait.”
