RESIDENTS have the opportunity to have their say and discuss local issues this Sunday in Highcliffe.

Rothesay Drive Residents’ Association (RDRA) is holding the group’s annual general meeting at Highcliffe Castle from 3pm.

The meeting will discuss the matters raised in the chairman’s report, approve the revised RDRA Constitution and elect a new committee. The report, written by chairman Bob Hutchings, details some of the key issues the residents’ association has been working on over the last year.

Mr Hutchings says in the report: “There’s no doubt that it’s been a busy year for your committee. As well as our normal –and extremely useful – dialogue throughout the year with castle

managers, we’ve tried to understand the various rights of way that exist around the drive.

“We’ve spoken at length with the appropriate authorities about our perennial flooding threat.

“We’ve sought your help to get our traffic restriction order updated. We’ve asked the council for reassurances about the running of the castle kitchen and last, but certainly not least, we’ve worked hard to try to bring about a satisfactory solution to the dilemma of the crumbling zigzag. All in all, it is an interesting year.”

Residents presented a 3,000 signature petition to the council over the zig zag recently, calling for it to be repaired. The issue is set to debated again next month.
