THE Spur Road southbound has reopened after a three-car crash.
The road was fully closed for a short time earlier before one lane reopened. The full stretch is now passable.
Motorists had faced delays of at least an hour and a quarter due to the incident.
Emergency services were called to a stretch of the road close to the Blackwater Junction after a collision at 5.30pm.
Both lanes were initially closed by police and long delays quickly built. Many motorists reported stationary traffic.
However, it is not believed that anyone involved was injured.
Shortly after 6pm, a spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "Three vehicles are believed to be involved at this stage.
"They are a blue Ford Fiesta registered to a man from Poole, a white Volkswagen Polo registered to a man from Poole and a black Mini registered to a woman from Christchurch.
"The two lanes are closed."
A spokesperson for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said two crews attended.
It was initially believed that one of the occupants of a vehicle involved would need to be cut free. However, this was not eventually needed, the spokesperson said.
