THE Sandbanks chain ferry suspended its service following an electrical fault.
Operators did not initially know when service would be able to resume.
They tweeted at around 1.40pm to say the ferry had been suspended "due to an electronic failure. No timescale for resuming service as yet."
The ferry was stuck on the Studland side. Nobody was on board.
Foot passengers that cannot get back, please report to the tollboxes. Cyclists with return tickets only should also report to tollboxes.

Morebus' route 50 diverted via the road between Swanage and Bournemouth.
The ferry was back in service by 2.40pm.
