HAVING read the report about the treatment of the pupils returning to The Bishop of Winchester School for the Autumn term, I find it unbelievable that the head teacher is more concerned about the dress code and appearance of his pupils rather than the reason that they are at the school.
Learning is important and to penalise these young people and their parents for not conforming to Mr McKeown’s idea of how they should present themselves at the beginning of the school year is ludicrous.
Your report in the Echo was quite correct - he should either explain his actions or resign. Does he think his action is beneficial to his students and, furthermore, his school? Where did Mr McKeown go to school and was he a model pupil? (I am not related to anyone in this spat).
