A 19-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He is assisting officers with their investigation.

Police were called at 10.27pm on Monday.

Parents and pupils turning up for the first day of term at nearby Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School this morning have been unable to get into the school from Christchurch Road.

Instead they were directed round the coroner to St James’ Square and told to enter via the school office.

One parent told the Daily Echo: “We normally use the driveway to get into school but it is taped off and there are two police officers and one police car across the entrance.

“No one has told us what is going on but it looks as if it is something serious and may be connected to Corpus Christi church next door to the school.”

Witnesses are asked to contact Dorset Police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101 quoting occurrence number 55170137847.
