HERE’S our pick of the top-10 events in Dorset this week.

1. It is the last day of the 49th annual Great Dorset Steam Fair today. The event features an old steam funfair, heavy haulage, steam tractors and lorries plus six stages of music and a WW1 tribute display.

2. Watch teams pull a Boeing 737 weighing 35,000 kg a distance of 50 metres for charity at the Dorset Plane Pull today. Spectators are invited to cheer on teams at Bournemouth Airport plus there will be food, drink, stalls and live entertainment between 10am and 5pm.

3. The Purbeck International Chamber Music Festival takes place from Thursday until Sunday. There will be guest appearances from Olivia Ray, Marcus du Sautoy, Robert Rinder, Katya Tsukanova and Jason Price.

4. A celebration of pop legend George Michael will take place at the Pavilion on Sunday. Featuring international George Michael tribute Wayne Dilks and his eight-piece band, Faith - The George Michael Legacy will feature 35 years of hit records.

5. Summer Breeze on Poole Quay continues on Thursday with fireworks and live music featuring Mungo Jerry.

6. A theatrical production celebrating the career of rock icon Rod Stewart – Some Guys Have All The Luck - will take place at the Pavilion on Thursday.

7. The tenth annual Bournemouth Air Festival begins on Thursday with the roar of the Puma fly-past at 3.15pm.

There will be four days of aircraft displays, vintage and modern, as well as a host of events on land and at sea.

The Red Arrows return, and there will be Night Air entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, with dusk flying displays, fireworks and live music from tribute acts to Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, Chic, Earth Wind and Fire and Ed Sheeran.

8. Durlston Learning Centre is hosting a Let’s Go Fly A Kite event from 2.30pm to 4pm on Thursday. Make a kite at the centre then test it outside. Booking essential by 01929 424443.

9. Wessex Acoustics Folk Club present Charlie Dore with Julian Littman at Blandford British Legion Club in Church Lane on Friday. Tickets are £10 in advance of £12 on the door.
