WHAT a disaster the lighting of the Lower Gardens was this year.
After 40+ years of generations of locals and holiday makers enjoying a magical event it has become a victim to cost cutting.
I feel the council need to rethink what type of town they want to create.
The event itself was badly planned and organised. Who thought walking with small candles close to the sea was sustainable?
Obviously the candles blew out in seconds and did anyone try before the event to light the jars which lined the path with the tapers? I think not.
There were lots of unhappy children and upset parents.
Bournemouth council needs a radical rethink before next year to save the traditions of the town.
