People travelling to and from Royal Bournemouth Hospital have been warned about delays due to roadworks.

The hospital say roadworks on Castle Lane East and Holdenhurst Avenue are causing issues for people trying to get in and out.

A spokesperson said both sets of roadworks are only expected to last one day, but they wanted to warn people to plan accordingly.

There had not been any advance warning, they added.

Gary Powell, head of traffic management and engineering, said: "Our Highway Maintenance Team carried out some emergency works shortly after 9am this morning which required a lane closure on Castle Lane East and road closure of Holdenhurst Avenue.

"The work was completed by 2pm and both roads are now fully open.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential highway maintenance works.”
