HEALTH bosses have revealed the county will have a single Dorset Cancer Service.

Organisations joining the Dorset Cancer Partnership include Dorset CCG, Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Dorset County Hospital, Dorset HealthCare as well as the third sector who will unify to coordinate care.

It comes as part of NHS England’s Five Year Forward View ‘to support improvement and integration of services.’

Now Dorset CCG is calling on patients across the county to have their say on the planning of future cancer services.

Residents can sign up to receive information and give views remotely, become a patient or carer representative or become a member of the Dorset Cancer Patient Steering Group.

Dorset CCG said the aim is to develop and implement a single Dorset Cancer Service across the county working to ‘prevent cancer, enable earlier diagnosis and achieve the best outcomes for those affected.’

A spokesman added: “The vision for the Single Cancer Service is to improve the patient pathway across Dorset by providing a seamless journey through different services (primary, secondary, community care as well as third sector). Cancer services will continue to be run out of various sites across the county subject to the CSR.”

The closing date for applications is September 15.
