DORSET star Georgia Hall suffered her second loss at the Solheim Cup during the afternoon fourballs at the Des Moines Golf & Country Club.

The former Oakmead College pupil, partnering Scotland’s Catriona Matthew, had no answer to the blistering scoring of classy US pairing Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson, who played superbly to win 4&2.

Having lost the first hole to a birdie from Kerr, the European pairing never returned to level terms throughout the afternoon contest, despite playing at a sublime standard themselves.

An eagle three on the par five fourth hole was a particular highlight for Wimborne-based Hall but, although she and Matthew put up a gutsy fight, the American pairing proved too strong.

Kerr and Thompson finished a staggering 13 under par between them from 16 holes to put another point on the board for the American team, who go into the final day’s play with a 10½-5½ advantage overall.

As an individual, 21-year-old Hall has secured two points from four matches played.

Both of those victories have come in the morning foursomes alongside Sweden's Anna Nordqvist.
