FANS of the late TV entertainer Sir Bruce Forsyth will be gathering at Bournemouth Pier this evening in his memory.

Phteven Hook and Dan Davies have organised an ‘Old Fashioned Bruce Off’ and encouraging as many people as possible to join them and strike the classic Bruce pose, which he first adopted on The Generation Game in 1971.

“Over the years, people have been taking pictures of themselves doing the pose in various locations. Since Bruce has died, people have been posting those picture online,” Phteven said.

“We’re going to get as many people as possible doing the pose at Bournemouth Pier as a mark of respect. We could even be breaking a world record.”

The 35-year-old added: “Brucie was a great entertainer. He was one of the main influences on our childhood. The Generation Game was definitely a favourite for me – it was perfect Saturday night TV.”

People are gathering in front of the amusements at Bournemouth Pier from 7.30pm this evening.

Sir Bruce died yesterday afternoon at the age of 89.

A statement by his manager Ian Wilson read: "It is with great sadness that the Forsyth family announce that Sir Bruce passed away this afternoon, peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife Wilnelia and all his children.”

His friends and colleagues in the showbusiness world have been paying tribute to him.

Strictly Come Dancing co-host Tess Daly said she was "heartbroken".
