THE travellers who moved onto Hengistbury Head earlier this week were still on the site yesterday.

Bournemouth council has already issued parking enforcement tickets on the small group, who pulled their vehicles into the turning circle on Broadway, close to the visitor centre on Tuesday.

A council spokesman said yesterday: “Parking Enforcement have continued to issue highways enforcement notices today and the council have now asked for a possession order to be obtained as a back-up if current highways enforcement measures do not encourage an earlier departure.

“This is currently being processed by legal services. Security remains on site.”

Meanwhile, travellers remain in Poole at Turlin Moor recreation ground and at Kingland Road car park.

A Borough of Poole spokesman said five caravans and associated vehicles are at Turlin Moor.

“Toilets and a skip are on site,” added the spokesman. “The site will continue to be monitored as part of the legal process for the removal of the travellers.”

The unauthorised encampment at Kingland Road car park includes four caravans and other vehicles.
