CHERRIES fans could spend more on fuel than the total cost of away game tickets, according to research by Confused.com.
AFC Bournemouth fans spend an estimated £728 on petrol, in comparison to the £570 spent on away game tickets.
The amount of money fans will spend on fuel is one of the steepest in the Premier League, and directly reflects how far they will travel to cheer their team on – a total of 6,908 miles.
If the purchase of a season ticket is also considered, which sits at £550 for the cheapest available, this brings the total cost for AFC Bournemouth fans to £1,848 for the season.
Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com, said: “Being a football fan is a very expensive hobby. It’s worth benchmarking the average cost of petrol against the price of a designated coach to see which is cheaper, and there is always the option of car sharing.”
