THE death of a pensioner which sparked a police investigation was due to natural causes, an inquest heard.
Joan Holmes, 88, was found unresponsive by staff at Seymour Residential Home in Bournemouth on August 1. Coroner Rachael Griffin said an ambulance was called, but with a 'do not resuscitate' order in place the paramedic was unable to act.
The court heard police began an investigation but found no suspicious circumstances.
Following a post mortem, a pathologist recorded the cause of death as late-onset Alzheimer's dementia. Ms Griffin also read evidence from Mrs Holmes' GP that her health had been deteriorating for some time.
"I am satisfied the family have no concerns regarding the cause of death, and it would appear they have no concerns regarding her treatment and care," said the coroner.
