MOTORISTS have been warned of possible delays near Bournemouth Airport this week as work continues at Chapel Gate roundabout.

There will be stop and go boards in use in Parley Lane on Tuesday and Wednesday, so that white lines can be painted to narrow the lanes approaching the roundabout from Hurn.

The boards will be in use between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Drivers have been warned to allow more time for their journey through the roundabout as there will inevitably be some delays.

The works is part of a £1.5 million project at the roundabout.

The first phase of work, lasting until August, will see a new left turn lane created on the south eastern side for traffic from Hurn, while the second phase, lasting until October, will see a new approach lane to the Aviation Business Park created on the north side.

Later, lanes approaching from the business park will be widened, and new 'islands' created between them. The works include resurfacing and the creation of new cycleways.
