THEATRE classes for adults are to be held at Bournemouth’s Pavilion.

They follow the success of a youth theatre programme which was launched two years ago.

BH Live, the not-for-profit body which runs the venues, says weekly sessions will allow participants to learn new skills as well as develop confidence and self-esteem.

Paul Griffiths, who develops BH Live’s community engagement and learning programme, said: “We are having phenomenal success with our youth theatre programme and last year more than 17,000 hours of youth theatre learning and community engagement were delivered. It seemed only natural to create a similar opportunity for adults.

“We aim to bridge the gap between the amateur and professional world. An authentic theatre experience will be given with exclusive access to the theatre’s facilities and expert knowledge from industry professionals. Company members will work as an ensemble to create performances in a variety of settings and events. It’s also a great social opportunity to meet like-minded people.”

Techniques including acting, improvisation, script work, comedy and physical theatre are included in the programme.

The sessions are available to anyone over 18 and a free trial session is available. Email pavilionoutreach@bhlive.org.uk or call 01202 055689.
