AN INSPIRATIONAL male model who lost his leg to a birth defect has made history by becoming the first amputee to be crowned Mr England.

Jack Eyers, from Bournemouth, beat 20 other finalists to take home the title at a glittering event held in Birmingham.

The 28-year-old personal trainer now has his sights set on Mr World which will be held next year.

Jack, who impressed judges with his skills of waterskiing on one leg and explaining how he wanted to become a role model for other disabled people having not had anyone to look up to himself, said: “I am absolutely buzzing and I feel very proud.

“The last five years I have made it my mission to raise the profile of disability in the fashion industry and to become a role model for other amputees and disabled people.”

As previously reported Jack was born with the rare condition Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency which meant his right leg did not grow properly leaving him in severe pain and he elected to have his leg amputated when he was 16.

He has since turned his life around becoming a model with Models of Diversity, which campaigns for diversity in the fashion industry, and also an actor, personal trainer and campaigner.

Jack said previously: “I hate the word disability because disabled means you are unable to do something so I call myself an amputee.

“I am very positive about losing my leg.

“I think my body changes the public's perception of the perfect body.

“It isn't about looks though. For me, the perfect body is when you can tell someone has confidence. Whether they are out of shape or in shape, blonde hair or dark hair, however they look, you can just tell they have confidence when they walk through the door and that's the perfect body."
