VOLUNTEERS are needed to work in charity shops run by Julia’s House.

People living in Broadstone or Christchurch are being asked to donate a couple of hours of their time to help the children’s hospice charity.

The shops need help sorting and pricing donations and serving customers.

It is also looking for a couple of green-fingered volunteers to help with upkeep at its hospice in Springdale Road, Corfe Mullen. Gardeners are needed for a couple of hours every Wednesday morning to weed, prune, tidy and sweep.

And for those who would like to help out on an ad hoc basis, the Julia’s House team are also on the lookout for people willing to lend a hand occasionally at fundraising events and festivals around Dorset this summer.

“We welcome all offers of help, even a couple of hours can make a real difference,” explained volunteer co-ordinator June Jones.

“People often worry they are going to be expected to give up a whole day or make a long-term regular commitment but we welcome all donations of time – even just a few hours now and again.

“We have volunteers of all ages from teenagers to pensioners supporting us. It’s a great way to get work experience, meet new people and do something worthwhile in support of your community – it’s good fun, too.”
