A VEHICLE believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a female pedestrian with serious injuries has been recovered by police.

Officers think the red Nissan X-Trial SUV, which reportedly failed to stop, was involved in an incident involving a pedestrian outside Coffee & Dice, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, at 10.30pm on July 7.

The pedestrian, a 20-year-old Bournemouth woman, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Today, Dorset Police confirmed the vehicle had been found in the Lewes area of East Sussex.

Dorset Police has renewed its appeal for witnesses.

A 53-year-old Hampshire man was arrested in the Sussex area on suspicion of driving offences. He has been released under investigation.
