HUNDREDS of staff and pupils from Lytchett Minster School walked in memory of a former pupil and teacher at this year’s sandwalk.
The school has organised the walk from Sandbanks to Bournemouth Pier and back every year since 1996.
This year the school walked in memory of former pupil Ed Kent, who died of an asthma attack in 2015 at the age of 13. As well as former maths teacher Christine Peggrem.
Ms Peggrem died in November last year just weeks after being diagnosed with bowel cancer. She was 52 at the time.
Macmillan Caring Locally supported Ms Peggrem in her final days, which is why money raised from the walk was split between them and the Ed Kent Trust – a foundation set up by his family.
The school say they expect to raise around £20,000 for the charities. The total amount will be announced on the last day of school.
